WRITTEN STATEMENT
This week I worked on developing my written statement.
First I analysed the exposition structure that Kate has posted and came up with a few sentences for each before collating the final paragraph.
1. Title: Sturdiest Material for Model Making
2. Topic sentence (outlining the subject you will be examining https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topic_sentence). I tested the most durable materials to create models with.
3. Thesis (or statement you are trying to prove). I think that the thicker materials will be more durable to work with for model making.
4. Argument (supported by 1 or more pieces of evidence or facts). As seen in my brown cardboard model.
5. Conclusion (proving or disproving your thesis, it doesn’t matter which, be honest) The thicker material tends to be more durable and easier to work with, but dependant on the scale.
Sturdiest Material for Model Making
I tested which material was the sturdiest to make strong, durable models with. I hypothesised that thicker materials will be stronger and easier to work with because of their rigidity. This was evidenced in a comparison between a model made of thin white card, and a model made of 3mm corrugated cardboard at the same scale of 1:20. The thicker material did in fact create a sturdier, stronger model than the thin card, and was easier to work with due to its stiffness. It is therefore true that thicker materials tend to be more durable and easier to work with for the purpose of model making.
